Sandy Weldy
Church Office Manager and Equipping Ministry Director
Sandy is the wife of Kory Weldy, married in 1997. Mother of three sons, DeWitt Friend, age 29, Nathan Friend, age 22 and Kendall Friend, age 19. Nana to two wonderful little boys, Cohen 15 months and Coltin 14 months.
Our home is a small farm where we raise and train Clydesdale draft horses. We also allow city kids to immerse themselves into a country way of life by allowing them to raise 4H animals on our farm so they have a truer understanding about caring of another living, breathing life.
We came to BCC after moving to the Harrisburg area from West Jefferson in December 2000. Kory and Stan were at Donuts with Dad event at our youngest children’s school and recognized each other from days at UPS. Stan gave out an invitation to attend Buckeye the next Sunday and we’ve been here since. Officially joining membership in May 2001.
My church background is Southern Baptist. Growing up in the Northern Kentucky area I went to church every Wednesday evening and twice on Sunday with my best friend and her parents (we still are best friends and still church together when ever possible). I had a solid positive upbringing in the church because of them. I accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior as a teen. I did not make the public walk to be baptized until I was an adult, knowing all the while that is what was commanded for me to do so.
I came to be employed at Buckeye after serving several years as a church secretary at another church in the area, and an opening in our own church office became available. Perfect fit from the start!
I am involved in ministry at Buckeye in several ministry areas. I serve on the Women’s Ministry Leadership Team, Nursery team, Greeting Team, Casserole Team, Missions Liaison Team, and Communion Preparation team. Kory and I were blessed to be the VBS director for three years—we loved every minute of it!
I would be classified as a people person! I love to be around people! Talking to, helping, teaching or serving people is where I get my most enjoyment. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone I could not have conversation with.
Continuing in the area of service to our church I will transition to the area of Equipping people into lay ministry within BCC along with managing the church office on a daily basis. This is an exciting time not only for me personally but for BCC and His Kingdom, as we become more spiritually directed as a church and community. It is my hope that all will be able to see and use their giftedness and their passion within the body of Christ.
