Stan Kirtlan
Born and raised on a farm in northern Indiana, Stan developed a great work ethic as well as a strong faith. His parents still attend the church he grew up in where if dad serves as an elder. He has two brothers who are both deacons in that church and a sister serving her church in Northeast Ohio as a church treasurer.
Stan preached his first sermon when he was 15 years old and God soon made his calling clear. He began his first ministry while still a student at Cincinnati Bible College (now Cincinnati Christian University) in Moscow, Indiana. He served there until 1987 when he was called to Bethesda, Ohio. After a 4 year ministry in Bethesda, Church Planting led him to a brand new church in Powell, Ohio. In May, 1994, Stan preached his first sermon at BCC and has been preaching here since. Stan married his wife Christy in 1997. They have 4 adult daughters all living in Central Ohio.
When asked about his ministry at Buckeye, Stan said, “Many ministers serve their entire working life without finding a good match between minister and church. I am so fortunate that God brought me to Buckeye (even though I was sure my other ideas were better) when He did. It is not as common as we would like it to be that a minister loves his church and is loved by his church. I have been very blessed to have a church love me…even in my failures and weaknesses.”
Christy is also a big part of the ministry at BCC. She teaches the Ladies Sunday School class and serves as BCC’s Family Life Ministry Leader.
